Rev. Elizabeth Mitchell Clement is an unsettled pastor, serving the church in transitions. Currently, she is the Designated Term Senior Minister of Central Congregational Church UCC in Atlanta, GA. She has standing for ministry in the Southeast Conference where she and her family live, and has served as interim and transition pastor there, as well as in the Florida and Northern California Conferences. Her Purpose Statement, which requires regular refreshment and commitment to memory, is this: “I am a woman of a certain age called to use myself and my gifts to hold spaces for healing, wholeness and hope, one at a time, fearlessly.” Most recently, she has discovered that her body—wondrously made—has wisdom to offer. Yes, the whole thing.

I’m just another pilgrim on the journey of finding and serving God in the World. Although I have an office and work in a building, I’m most aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit and the craftiness of the Potter of Creation when I’m out in nature. Indeed, I have found God along the banks of the Mississippi in Memphis, among the red rocks of the Garden of the Gods, and in a canoe floating in the middle of the Potomac. My pastors and spiritual guides have certainly included ordained clergy, but also toddlers, family, and friends. I take seriously the charge of the UCC’s organizing documents that calls upon each generation of the church to “make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God.” And I deeply believe that God is big enough to love each of us without end.
I’m proud to be ordained in the UCC and be a member of the 15th cohort of the Next Generation Leadership Initiative, which support young clergy in the development of transformational leadership skills for local church ministry.

I grew up in a family that always had music at the center of our lives, being raised in a Filipino household. My love for the piano and singing started early on in Cape Coral, Florida, and it grew as I pursued music at the University of South Florida. Along the way, I’ve been lucky to explore all kinds of music, from classical to contemporary worship. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to serve in several churches in Florida and Georgia, including as music director at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Coral and pianist at Mountainview United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA. I’ve also worked with some great community choirs and music groups across both states, directing and sometimes accompanying as well. Now, as Music Director here at Central Congregational UCC, I’m excited to continue blending different styles of music to make worship vibrant and meaningful. I’m really looking forward to continuing my journey with this wonderful church family and sharing the joy of music with everyone.
