Plymouth Harbor

Since 1991, Plymouth Harbor has provided friendship, stimulating activity and a caring community for those who spend the day with us. We offer support and a needed break for someone who cares for a loved one who is no longer independent.

Started by members of Central, Plymouth Harbor is a ministry of the church serving older adults- without regard to gender, religion, race, or ethnicity. The three-day-a-week program provides the occasional respite for older adults and their caregivers. While participants are at Plymouth Harbor, we fill their day with meaningful activity. We have weekly performances by local musicians, interactions with pets and children, cooking projects, nature walks, games, parties, and exercise programs for all physical abilities, including Tai Chi and Yoga. We provide morning snacks and delicious lunches.

Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays

Time: 10:00AM – 3:00PM

Our Caregivers Support Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, 10:15 AM-12pm. Led by a certified counselor, the group is open to anyone needing support, counseling, or resources to help contend with the stresses of caring for an aging family member/spouse.

A typical day at Plymouth Harbor includes time for exercise, lunch, dancing, and even a few games!

Each Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning our friends arrive at 10 a.m. We begin our day with a social hour. Our tables are always set with white tablecloths and fresh flowers. We enjoy a light morning snack of fruit, muffins, coffee and tea, while visiting with friends and volunteers. Then we move on to current events, trivia and jokes.

Our exercise time takes place between 11 and 11:30 a.m. On Tuesdays, we are led in yoga by a certified instructor. On Thursdays, we offer a chair exercise class designed by exercise physiologists from Ability Rehab. On Fridays, we practice Tai Chi with a Tai Chi instructor for the Yellow River Tai Chi for Parkinson’s Center.

Lunch is served at 12:00 p.m. Our delicious and nutritious meal is catered by Piccadilly each day. Lunch is followed by dessert and coffee or hot tea.

A one hour musical performance begins after lunch, featuring a wide variety of musicians from the local community. Our music ranges from bluegrass to classical. Dancing often ensues!

At 2:00 p.m., Plymouth Harbor’s game hour begins. Each day we offer multiple game options, generally including an active game and a table game. Most days we also play Bingo, with a chance to win prizes!

Our program concludes at 3:00 p.m.
