Community Conversations: Joe Ingle & “Too Close to the Flame”

We are inviting you to meet UCC Minister and Author Rev. Joe Ingle.  He will discuss his new book “Too Close to the Flame,” a heartbreakingly beautiful account of over four decades serving as a spiritual counselor, guide, and friend to the men and women on Death Row. Throughout his forty-five years visiting death rows across the American South, Joe Ingle has learned, loved, and suffered intensely.

Join us to discover this part psychological memoir, part history of Southern state killing since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976. You will be amazed by the gallery of relationships that could only be forged between people staring death in the face together.

Central Congregational UCC is hosting this conversation in partnership with the Southeast Conference(UCC), Charis Books, and several other UCC congregations. We are meeting at 7pm for the Community Conversations in the Sanctuary, and we’ll continue with a reception and book signing in the Commons. Don’t worry if you don’t have the book yet. You’ll be able to purchase one on site from Charis Books and More for $28 each.
