4th Annual Tailgate Party & Picnic!
Dear Central family and friends,
It’s time once again for our annual fundraiser on behalf of Toco Hills Community Alliance. This is the 7th year for this fun and important event. Central is a founding partner in this shared ministry of multiple faith partners- now in its 25th year of engaging businesses, non-profits, schools, colleges and individuals to serve our neighbors in need.
And the need is greater than ever. When our event began a few years ago THCA served 14,000 households and delivered to them around 500,000 pounds of food. In 2023 we will serve well over 23,000 households with a million pounds of food. 38% of those households have children; 12% are senior citizens. All are at severe risk of going hungry without our help. In 2023 THCA will serve almost 6,000 hot meals to our unhoused friends. And our school backpack programs help to feed dozens of families each week at a neighborhood elementary school.
So join us for Central Congregational UCC’s 4th Annual Tailgate Party and Picnic on Saturday, October 28th at 4 PM in Central’s Parking Lot!
This year: we’re having a Low Country Shrimp Boil!
The party features live parking lot music, a word from THCA leaders, and great Tailgate Party food spread out Low Country style on tables covered in newsprint! Make sure to bring your lawn chairs and your cooler of drinks and prepare to enjoy a fun and casual event hanging out with your Central family and friends.
Once again, rather than sell tickets, organize a silent auction, conduct raffles and the like, we are simply asking folks to donate the money they would have spent on a charity dinner ticket (suggested $50 per person). To do that CLICK HERE. $50 out of reach? Donate what you can and come join the fun!
Shrimp, potatoes, corn, and kielbasa all boiled in a huge pot with a special assortment of spices with everything cooked outdoors right in our parking lot. There’ll be munchies while you wait for the main event, desserts, and a great time hanging out with your family and friends while supporting a great cause! Seafood allergy? Vegetarian? No problem. We’ll have a pot of food and fixin’s in the spirit of the event prepared separately so you can join in the fun!
There are no “tickets”; when you click on the REGISTER button you’ll indicate how many will be coming to our event. It’s also where you’ll indicate if you have a seafood allergy or are a vegetarian. It’s our way of keeping track of reservations for this VERY special Tailgate Party and Picnic in celebration of Toco Hills Community Alliance.
So please join Central Congregational United Church of Christ and other THCA partners in building a healthier and more sustainable community through feeding the hungry.
See you for our Low Country Shrimp Boil on October 28th at 4 PM!
